Platform Engineering is the senior infrastructure engineering team for Wells Fargo's Digital Technology organization. We provide engineering & application support to our partners across several technologies running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux; including but not limited to Apache HTTPD Webserver, Nginx, Confluent Kafka, Apache Storm, Oracle Java, Oracle Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, F5 iRules, Kubernetes, Docker and AppDynamics. Platform Engineering's mission is to deliver world class engineering and support for the digital channels and products that serve our customers' online & mobile financial needs. Our subject matter experts identify & mitigate technical problems, motivate & empower our partners, and provide technical solutions that our business relies upon and our customers expect.

This particular engineering position within Platform Engineering will focus on F5 engineering & irule development for the various applications within Digital Technology that require them. You will attend daily meetings, collaborate with team members, business partners & clients, provide the strategy & design for new projects, and technical guidance & consultation to developers. Your daily responsibilities will include engineering F5 configurations & developing F5 iRules to manage and manipulate HTTP/HTTPS traffic based on application requirements, implementing standards & best practices, responding to security findings, automating processes & procedures, identifying & mitigating technical problems, developing documentation & departmental technical procedures, and providing 4th level support to production and pre-production operations teams.

Candidates should have extensive experience supporting the BIG IP (F5) technology; implementing & designing F5 configuration based on applications requirements, hands on knowledge of TCP/IP and UNIX/LINUX variants, Demonstrated experience and knowledge of network devices (routers, switches, etc.) including such topics as HTTP headers, ISO layers, & TCP flags, Fundamental knowledge of encryption to include HTTPS in a reverse and forward proxy environment, knowledge of DNS and the ability to read packet captures for troubleshooting of data traffic flow, working knowledge of Jira, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, and scripting experience using Shell Perl or Python. In addition, this candidate must have excellent, interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills.

The position will report into the Platform Engineering Manager within the Digital Technology division.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex computer applications and/or application initiatives.
Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for the most complex platform designs, coding, and testing.
Leads most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts.
Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.



Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 5+ years of F5 LTM experience
  • 5+ years of iRules and iControls experience
  • 7+ years of experience with Linux OS environment
  • 7+ years of experience leading multiple projects



Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 3+ years of F5 ASM experience
  • 7+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise wide information technology solutions
  • 7 + years of experience troubleshooting environments across the entire architecture (i.e. applications to infrastructure)
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis for data-driven process-related improvements
  • Ability to act as a subject matter expert
  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative and creative in meeting customer and enterprise needs
