This position is offered at either Bell s main campus in FortWorth, Texas or the Shelton, Connecticut office. Relocation to theDallas/Fort Worth area is available. For those in the CT area, Bell sShelton office allows candidates to work remotely on the same diverse range ofexciting programs without having to relocate. Travel to the main campusin Fort Worth for coordination meetings, testing, and other on-site activitiescan be expected. For either location, travel to various suppliers may beexpected depending on the assignment.
The Autonomous Systems C4 (command, control, communications,computer) Engineer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
Defining, selecting and integrating vehicle and mission systems to facilitate reliable and redundant Unmanned Aerial System performance in complex environments including; GPS denied, contested, degraded comms, commercial airspace and degraded visual environment.
Collaborating in a cross functional team as the technical lead for guidance, navigation and control (path planning/replanning, waypoint following, take-off and landing)
Coordinating with embedded software engineers to program sub-systems to execute autonomous tasks (MUM-T, Leader-Follower, Loiter, Stare, Orbit, etc )
Coordinating with ground control station suppliers to define and manage UAS interface requirements to enable supervised autonomous mission tasking and contingency planning and re-planning.
Defining, integrating and managing data link & communications systems (frequency management, protocols, radio / antenna selection and placement, transport technology (4G, 5G, SATCOM), IOPs, Standards (STANAG 4586, JAUS)).
Collaborating with other teams and transferring knowledge gained on advanced technology
Interact with internal and external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.
Guides the successful resolution of engineering problems, serves as a consulting resource of engineering knowledge, applies the latest technological advancements to the problem.
Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, makes technical presentations, and may represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small identifiable projects.
Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
Bachelor s Degree is required. Major in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred. Bachelor s Degree in Physics, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering will be considered.
Master s Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is preferred.
9+ years of experience in the aerospace industry, particularly rotorcraft, is beneficial. Other industry experience will be considered.
Ability to understand, develop and implement complex algorithms and software projects.
Excellent skills in scripting/programming: Python, C/C++.
Experience with Linux operating systems and shell.
Works well independently.
Excellent theoretical background in machine learning and data mining.
Good knowledge in different sensor measuring principles: camera, stereo camera, FLIR, LiDAR, Radar, telemetry, datalinks, RF.
Knowledge of Kalman Filters, GPS, and IMUs.
Experience with or aptitude to learn currently fielded data links, to include: Link-16, MADL, SADL, CDL, TCDL.
Experience with or aptitude to learn Phased Array and directional Antenna interface and integration.
